This is what happens when you add Whey Protein in you weight-loss diet.

December 29, 2017

“Sat on a tuffet, eating her cured and Whey”. Yes, even Little Miss Muffet was obsessed with Whey, and maybe this is the reason why she wasn’t overweight regardless of her fatty diet. Although it’s no secret that Whey protein holds the crown when it comes to bodybuilding, studies shown that it offers other benefits that make it an excellent supplement to your weight management plan.

Let’s take a look of the 3 benefits brought by the beloved Whey protein

1.     Whey protein suppresses your appetite so you will snack less
According to a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2014, Whey protein may make it easier for you to stick with your diet because you won’t get hungry easily. Of all the nutrients in you diet, whey protein are the most satisfying as it stimulates hormones, such as cholecystokinin (CKK), that control hunger. The unbelievably huge verity of flavours also fixes your sweet tooth while being healthy, a win-win situation isn't it?

2.     Muscle burns calories and protein build muscle
Obviously drinking Whey protein shake alone is not gonna melt away those unwanted pounds instantly. Exercise, exercise, exercise! This is so crucial that I have to repeat it. To benefit from a diet that includes Whey protein shakes, control your calorie intake and add resistance training to your workout plan. Yes that’s right, do NOT just focus on cardio, resistance training helps you build up muscle and muscle burns fat.

3.     Whey protein shake destroy calories and black fat storage
Whey protein is thermogenic, meaning it burns lots of calories in your body and replace them with healthy, strong muscle. What’s more surprising is the calcium in Whey protein kills calories like a ninja. It is a significant player in fat metabolism and appears to both reduce fat storage and increase fat burning when consumed at adequate levels during periods of calories restriction.

Now that we all get to know a bit more about this magical supplement, but how do we start?

I personally love to have my Precision Engineered Whey Protein Lean Powder mixed with almond milk. I got them from Holland and Barrett while on the penny sale and it was a great deal. Two huge bags of protein (1000g each, I got vanilla and chocolate) costed only £40! (It was £39.99 for one). Precision offers a lot of flavours, from the original vanilla, banana, chocolate, strawberry to everyone’s favourite cookies and cream. Oh this is very important for me to make this disclaimer here. I am not trying to advertise Precision protein and no one is paying me to write, it's just that this brand works the best for me so far and I wanna share with you all. Everyone is different, what I like may not be your favourite.

Precision Enginnered Whey Protein Lean Powder is very high in protein and perfect for people who are aiming for a lean definition. The powder is made up of premium-grade whey with Green Tea extract, Acetyle L-Carnitine and CLA, which are proven to aid weigh-loss effectively. What makes me so confident about this produce is the fact that Precision Enginnered protein is free from artificial colours, flavours, preservatives and yeast. What’s better than having delicious healthy protein shake everyday without worrying any artificial additive. Since the powder is manufactured in the UK, it’s microbiologically, chemically and scientifically tested. Quality is strictly assured so we can get to consume the safest possible shake.

Vanilla
It has a very subtle taste; I mainly use it for baking, like cookies and cupcake. Add a scoop or two of to the mix, cut down a bit on the flour and follow the rest of the baking procedure regularly. It’s really magical that although we cannot taste the protein, we know it’s there, in the delicious cookies and cupcakes. However, I don’t really prefer having the vanilla protein shake alone with whatever milk or water, it tastes weird for me.

Chocolate
No offence to vanilla, but chocolate has always held a special place in our hearts. This is my favourite taste, it goes very well with milk and water and the mixing is surprising easy, simply took me about 10-15 shakes for the powder to full dissolved into the milk. I use unsweetened almond milk and the shake tastes like normal chocolate smoothie. It has a mild sweet and full blast of cacao flavour. Now you don’t have to feel guilty about drinking this “chocolate smoothie”. Would definitely recommend this!

They also offer Banana, Strawberry and Cookies and cream for the regular Whey protein powder!

How exactly do you add Whey protein to your diet?

Precision Engineered recommends adult men to add 4 scoops of the powder to 350ml water or milk; and 2 scoops to 175ml water or milk for women.
For me personally, the recommended portion is too much for me so I reduced it to a scoop or a scoop and a half, depending on my workout and diet, then mix it with 175ml unsweetened almond milk. However you don’t have to restrict it to just water or milk, Whey can be easily incorporated into lots of different foods. You can add it to yogurt, oats, smoothie, and bake with it or cook with it. The only restriction is your imagination.

What is the best time to consume it?

Perfect timing is at breakfast and after workout. You can also have it between meals but try to avoid it before you go to bed.

Before you choose any Whey Protein, be sure that you talk to your GP or any health care provider before adding whey protein to your diet. It may not be safe for individual with kidney disease to supplement with whey protein or increase their daily protein intake.
